This camera uses 4K resolution and Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization for camera-shake compensation. Balanced Optical SteadyShot is more effective at cutting the effects of camera shake internally. The camera's lens and sensor are joined and move together controlling the whole optical path as one floating unit. This advanced stabilization system makes it easier to shoot clear and stable images while on the move.

With less distortion, the new ZEISS Tessar lens ensures that the quality remains consistently strong across all settings. This is huge as the previous version had major distortion in certain settings. In terms of color, this camera produces high and accurate colors in 4K and Full HD videos. The FDR-X3000 also has a back - illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X processor which work together to help with noise reduction, face detection, and dynamic range. We also really love how this camera records high quality sound. The noise reduction in the built in stereo microphone helps to reduce the impact of wind interference.

If you purchase the version with the remote, the Sony FDR-X3000R, you have the ability to stream a live preview and control the action camera with the optional Live-View Remote. You can also use the Sony's PlayMemories Mobile application available for both Android and iOS.

The body of the Sony FDR-X3000 is splashproof and freezeproof. When you put the waterproof housing that is supplied, it's dustproof, shockproof, and waterproof to 197 ft / 60m. The FDR-X3000 has a universal tripod screw mount on the body of the camera itself, and one on the waterproof housing, which allows you to attach the camera onto a tripod or action mount.

This underwater housing is equipped with a flat port in front of the lens and convenient camera buttons on the side. This lets you easily control all functions through the housing. The housing also shields the camera from shocks, damp, rust, dust, and sand.

You can capture an ultra-wide angle view with the Ziess Tessar lens or choose your own viewing angle from Wide, Medium, or Narrow. Changing the angle of view also helps correct for the barrel distortion. You can also seamlessy zoom thanks to the available 3x smooth zoom mode. The Sony FDR-X3000 has camera features that allows you to capture 8.3MP stills over regular intervals for an extended period of time. Time-lapse Capture lets you create time-lapse movies by using high quality 4K still images shot at designated intervals. The Action Cam Movie Creator software will transform these images into a time-lapse movie. You can create Full HD time-lapse movies with the Action Cam App.

With Motion Shot you can capture an entire action sequence in a single frame. With this feature, it creates a composite image of a subject in motion. The variable settings for different burst speeds are 10fps, 5fps, and 2fps.

The built-in stereo microphone allows you to capture sound in two track stereo. Wind noise reduction reduces the impact of wind interference. There is also a microphone jack for times that you need a external microphone. No additional adapter needed!

The Sony FDR-X3000 also has built-in WIFI, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. It also has a new intuitive interface, three recording lights and an adjustable beep volume. All of these features ensure easy operation. The USB, HDMI, and microphone jack connections are now located on the back of the camera which is great.
